Introducing a new way of understanding and treating infections, inflammation and infertility

My new and original programme takes a deep dive into one of the most important and under-recognised clinical realities in medicine today: that the conditions we most struggle to treat — endometriosis, adenomyosis, unexplained infertility, chronic illness (such as Lyme Disease, Epstein-Barr Virus, Long Covid), weight gain, fatigue — are not primarily structural or hormonal problems. They are driven by inflammation and infections.

I’ve built this course around the hidden root causes that sit beneath your most complex and treatment-resistant cases. The teaching is highly relevant for practitioners treating fertility and chronic illness, and for anyone who has ever had a patient who should be responding to treatment but isn’t.

This course is for every Chinese Medicine practitioner:

Who wants to take their diagnosis and treatments to a deeper level.

Who is not satisfied with offering treatments that help their clients but don't resolve the issue.

Who wants to expand their horizon of treatment through collaboration with other disciplines.

This course will teach you how to identify what’s been missed by other health practitioners, and how to treat it with TCM.

Feedback from the Beta Testers

This course was Beta Tested in August 2024, here's what the Beta Testers had to say.

"It re-ignited my passion for continued learning and TCM alongside a Western medicine perspective."

"The knowledge that Naava has is phenomenal and the amount of work she has put into preparing and giving the course incredible and very generous… And it is all backed up by so much research, I feel very lucky to have been able to participate."

"I liked the fact that many things one has already heard of were brought together in this course… enough material was provided to dive deeper."

Topics covered in the 11 live interactive lectures include:

  • Endometriosis, adenomyosis and endometritis as inflammatory and infectious conditions — and why looking beyond the oestrogen dominance changes everything about how we treat them
  • The gut microbiome and the estrobolome — how oestrogen dominance operates in the gut
  • The immune system and inflammation – Mast cell activation and its role in the oestrogen-inflammation feedback loop
  • How to understand blood test results – thyroid dysfunction, viruses, reading a full blood count, autoimmunity, and more
  • Biohacking against inflammation – weight loss, insulin resistance, therapeutic peptides (including GLP-1), autophagy strategies
  • The over-sensitised patient — why some people are so over-sensitised and how to manage their care
  • Finding hidden viruses, Lyme disease and bacterial co-infections – recognition, testing, treatment and referral
  • Mould poisoning – chronic inflammatory response syndrome (CIRS), MARCoNS testing and treatment protocols
  • Introduction to Micro-Immunotherapy (MIT) – as an auxiliary protocol to your TCM
  • Case history discussions  applying the full Toxic Heat diagnostic framework in practice

Learn my integrated approach to diagnosis:

This course follows my approach of using Western medical testing to investigate and inform our Chinese Medicine diagnosis and treatment. Each module includes support materials with written guidance on diagnostic and treatment approaches, recommended acupuncture points and herbal formulae, and real-life client case studies.

Patient-ready materials for you to use in clinic:

The course also includes the systems and materials I have developed to guide patients with complex cases through the different stages of treatment. You will have access to the factsheets and information I give my clients to help them adopt the right mindset and to manage their expectations on timelines, treatments and side effects.

"I will teach you my fully integrated approach to diagnosis, covering biomedical and functional medicine perspectives. I will then show you how TCM Acupuncture and Herbs can be used as a uniquely effective treatment approach to these holistic problems." - Naava Carman

"I will teach you all of these elements using a fully integrated approach to diagnosis, covering biomedical and functional medicine perspectives. I will then show you how TCM Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine offer a uniquely effective treatment approach to these holistic problems."
- Naava Carman

By the end of this course you will be able to:

✔  Recognise the patients whose treatments aren't working long term because of an underlying infectious or inflammatory condition.

✔  Identify appropriate tests and read the results well enough to make clinical decisions.

✔  Sequence TCM acupuncture, herbal and dietary treatment around antimicrobial and gut-healing protocols.

✔  Identify and treat Lyme, co-infections, mould illness, CIRS, mast cell activation and gut-driven oestrogen dominance.

✔  Refer confidently when something is outside your scope, and know who to refer to.

✔  Hold a long-term complex caseload without being overwhelmed and with patients who stay engaged.

✔  Step back into your existing practice with new clarity about the patients who used to puzzle you.

JOIN THE WAITING LIST FOR THE NEXT COHORT

The current cohort is running from June to September 2026, by joining the waiting list you are ensuring that you are the first to hear about when the next cohort for live teaching is open for sign-ups.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I be able to sign-up for the course?

We have not yet set the date for the next cohort but by joining the Waiting List you will be the first to hear when we're ready to open up again.

Is the course in-person or online?

Toxic Heat is delivered entirely online, in 11 live weekly sessions of 90 minutes each.

Will I be able to ask Naava questions during the course?

Each of the 90 minute live sessions will include a time for questions, you will also be able to ask questions in the Toxic Heat online community available through our website and the Kajabi mobile app.

What are the dates and times of the calls?

These will be arranged based on the locations of the people who sign up for the Waiting List.

What happens if I miss one of the live calls?

No problem, all the calls will be recorded and you will be able to watch them back and ask questions you may have in the online community.

What happens if I'm not one of the first 30 people?

The first cohort for the course was limited to 30 places and they are now all taken. Future cohorts may be bigger or smaller.

Is this course only suitable for practitioners who specialise in fertility?

No. While the course addresses the infectious and inflammatory roots of infertility, endometriosis and hormonal dysfunction, the framework is equally relevant for any practitioner treating chronic illness — including Lyme disease, CIRS, mould-related illness, autoimmune conditions and complex multi-system presentations. If you regularly see patients who are not responding as expected, this course is for you.

Is this a Western medical course or a TCM course?

Both! The approach I have taken in my practice for over 25 years is to use Western medical testing to help me understand what is happening in the body in order to inform my TCM diagnosis and treatments. I believe that TCM is as relevant today as it has always been, but the TCM we are taught has not kept up with science of complex conditions where multiple contradictory things are happening and where TCM has to coexist with Western medical interventions. It's not that TCM is wrong, we just need to understand enough about what's happening to get the right TCM diagnosis and treatments.

Do I need to be a Herbalist as well as an Acupuncturist?

Everything I teach on the course is within the scope of Acupuncturists with one exception. The use of antimicrobial herbal formulae is an important part of being able to help some of your clients and I will teach Acupuncturists to diagnose this need. As part of the course I will help you build referral relationships with herbalists who have completed the course so that you can work together to cover all the bases for your clients.

Does the course include point prescriptions and herbal formulae?

Yes, the course includes extensive guidance on points and herbs to use in your treatments.

Can I take this course if I haven't done the Advanced Level Diploma in Fertility Acupuncture?

Yes, the course is a standalone course without any entry requirement. For those who have not yet done my Advanced Level Diploma in Fertility Acupuncture, this course will transform how you see your most complex cases, give you a diagnostic framework and testing toolkit you can begin using immediately, and show you how to build the referral relationships that allow you to serve patients that would otherwise remain stuck.

Should I take this course if I have already bought the Advanced Level Diploma in Fertility Acupuncture?

This course is also suitable for both those who have completed my Advanced Level Diploma in Fertility Acupuncture. For those with the Diploma, this course adds a deeper clinical layer to address the infection and inflammatory roots of reproductive immunology issues.

What level of TCM experience do I need to have?

This is a TCM course so you will need to have a good understanding of TCM to understand it and implement what I teach. The course may be unsuitable for new TCM graduates with less clinical experience.

What is the price and the payment options?

You can pay for the course in one payment of £1,470 or three monthly payments of £490. The basic price gives you access to the course materials and the online community for around four months. You can choose to purchase Extended Access to the course materials and community to give you an extra 6 months of access.

What is the FST Practitioners' CPD Programme?

The FST Practitioners' CPD Programme is exclusively available to practitioners who have passed either the Toxic Heat course or the Advanced Level Diploma in Fertility Acupuncture. The programme comprises monthly live CPD sessions and an ever-growing archive of over 80 hours of training in CPD relevant to practitioners who have completed these courses.

Is there an assessment at the end of the course?

There will be a short quiz at the end of each week to help you cement your learning. You can take these quizzes as many times as you like. There is an optional assessment at the end of the course which you need to complete if you want to access the FST Practitioners' CPD Programme. This is a case study based assessment which Naava will personally mark.

Do I need to pass the end of course assessment to get my CPD hours?

No, the 21 CPD hours are based on taking part/watching the live sessions and reading the course materials.

Can I get CPD points from my regulatory body?

We are currently submitting applications for USA regulatory bodies, professional bodies in the UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and many other countries accept our certificates as evidence of CPD. Please contact us if you have a specific question.
